What services do you offer?

We are a consulting service, where you can discuss your general health concerns and where appropriate we may offer a potential remedy. Our discussion with you is only as good as the information you provide, so, if during the consultation we deem it necessary for further examination, we will refer you to a more appropriate healthcare practitioner.

Only our Pharmacists can provide an Absence from work certificate.

What type of Practitioners are available for a consult?

Presently we are offering naturopath and pharmacist consultations which are guided and further audited by a Medical monitor.

Can you issue an Absence from work certificate?

Under the Fair Work Act 2009, pharmacists have the authority to issue Absence from Work Certificates to people covered by the Act as proof of legitimate absence from work.

They cannot be provided for absences relating to pregnancy or compassionate/parental leave.

Absence from Work Certificates are issued at the pharmacists’ discretion

Pharmacists can only issue certificates for conditions that are within their scope of practice; such as minor ailments. If your illness or injury is outside a pharmacist’s ability to assess, they will refer you to a doctor or other relevant healthcare professional.

Absence from Work Certificates can be issued for short periods of leave and cannot be backdated.

What is the role of the Medical Monitor?

The Medical Monitor is involved in routinely reviewing casework to ensure a standard of care and the continued development of the clinicians offering to advise. The Medical Monitor is not available for private casework.

How do you handle bodywork, physicals, and pathology?

In these cases, you will be referred on. We have a wonderful, national network of Doctors, Dietitians, Naturopaths and Pharmacists we partner with and would be glad to receive you as a patient.

How do you handle pathology?

If needed, we would refer to one of our Doctors within our network for authorising the pathology and then reviewing of results with yourself.

Are the new patient forms necessary?

Yes, definitely. These forms provide a great deal of information that allow us to serve you better. Remember we are as good as the information you provide.

Is it true you offer a free 20-minute consultation?

Yes, it is, simply schedule an appointment.

Do I need any special software to use your service?

No, any computer or smart device with internet access will be sufficient.

How is my personal information handled?

Can I speak to you with regards to a loved one?

This may be tricky, if you are speaking for a minor (someone under the age of 18) and you are their legal guardian, that’s OK. If you are speaking for someone infirmed or disabled, and you are their legal guardian, that’s OK. If you are ringing us about another patient, then we are sorry, we would have to terminate the consultation.

Lastly, in the odd chance you are wanting general advice on a matter concerning a loved one, i.e. addiction – and we stress general advice, then we will try to help.

If I am referred on, how does that work?

At the end of the consultation, you will be provided a referral letter via email, and where possible, we would provide a copy to the Practitioner we are referring to. You would then need to contact that Practitioner and schedule a time for an appointment. Note: they may have their own fees.

Does Medlab also sell product? Aren’t you just going to recommend your own products?

Yes, we do have a small range of unique clinical products, and they are mainly centred around managing chronic illnesses and/or co-morbidities. But we recognise these products aren’t for everyone.

Services from this clinic are not biased to any one brand, and whilst you may be recommended a Medlab product, it is just as conceivable you may be recommended a non-Medlab product.

Factors affecting a product recommendation are varied, but ultimately come down to what you are presenting with and your medical history.
